Project for Reform of Industrial Building, T.M. Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza 2023.
The project consist of the intervention in an existing industrial building of 10x30mts in plan, for the creation of a new large space with mixed commercial, administrative and service uses inside. Preserving the existing perimeter walls, a system of wooden porticoes is incorporated into the interior to support a new floor in the form of a mezzanine and the new roof, which, designed with a large central skylight, floods the space with zenithal light. As if it were a modern wooden temple where trees are also introduced inside, recalling the origin of its material construction.
EXTERIORS
The large entrance hall of the building develops from the exterior, through a welcoming courtyard, towards the interior, where it connects with the mezzanine floor with administrative uses. A double-height space with the vocation of an interior plaza that articulates the different parts.
The interior of the facility is characterised by its brightness. The side facades of the nave are entirely glazed and a large central skylight runs along the entire nave. The original walls of the nave’s façades are maintained, and a surprising luminous space is revealed when crossing them.
